Improved energy storage and electrocaloric properties of lead-free Ba0.85Ca0.15Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 ceramic

Lead-free Ba0.85Ca0.15Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 (BCZT) ceramic powders were synthesized using the sol–gel method. The ceramics thickness was reduced to achieve high-energy storage and large electrocaloric effect in bulk ceramics. Dielectric, ferroelectric, energy storage, properties investigated for BCZT with 400 µm. Here, pure crystalline structure homogenous microstructure identified by XRD analysis SEM measurements, respectively. dielectric measurements revealed a maximum constant associated ferroelectric–paraelectric phase transition. of $$\varepsilon^{\prime}_{{\text{r}}}$$ 17841, around 352 K. Furthermore, exhibited improved properties. A high recoverable density Wrec 0.24 J/cm3 total Wtotal 0.27 an efficiency coefficient ~ 88% at 423 K under electric field 55 kV/cm obtained. Besides, value ?T = 2.32 K, responsivity ? 0.42 mm/kV, refrigeration capacity RC 4.59 J/kg performance COP 12.38 achieved 384 kV/cm. temperature change also calculated exploiting Landau–Ginzburg–Devonshire (LGD) theory. theoretical results matched experimental findings. These suggest that could be promising candidate applications.
